Moving Tips to Streamline Your Move in Rochester and Surrounding Counties

At Tony Caccamise Moving, we do the heavy lifting for you. When you need your things moved quickly and safely, look no further than Rochester's most trusted moving company! While we are happy to help you develop a customized moving plan to streamline the process, there are several things to take into consideration and some things you can do before the movers come to help everything go smoothly.

  • Estimate

    The estimate we provide is calculated based on the Information provided with your estimate request. This estimate is not a guarantee of charges, but an estimate of probable cost, based on the inventory given. Please inform us promptly of any long walks, elevators, time constraints involved in the move. Changes to inventory, locations, long walks, elevators, additional stops, and specialty items will effect the total cost for your move. Other things that can effect the overall cost are dissasembly of complex beds, (captains beds with drawers, sleep number, etc), tight turns and small staircases, parking on the road. Quoted rates are guaranteed for 30 days from dated quoted. Rates may differ at the time of booking if the move is scheduled more than 30 days from estimate.

  • Packing

    We do not provide packing services at this time. We do have a few people we reccomend for packing apon request.


    Flat screen tv's are required to be Packed in protective cartons (they can be found at Uhaul, Home Depot, Lowes)to transport on our truck. If you need us to transport a television without a protective carton, there will be limited liability. We recommend mattress protection for your mattresses and box springs. We can provide these bags only if requested, for an additional cost. If you would like those items bagged please let us know. Anything that can fit in a box should be packed. Books should be packed in banker boxes or smaller boxes Our moving crews will not move miscellaneous loose items. Lamp shades and lightbulbs should be removed. Pictures, Canvas artwork, and loose glass should be packed safely in picture cartons. If they are too big, please let us know and we can address them. *We do not remove anything from walls. Pictures, TVS, etc should be taken down prior to our crew's arrival. We can assist lifting the items off walls but cannot unscrew or detach items from drywall.

  • Pianos and Specialty items

    If you are moving a piano, safe, treadmill, workout equipment, refrigerators/appliances and these specific items have not been addressed in communications, please let us to know as sometimes things get missed. These items are what we call “specialty” items and may require additional men or equipment to be moved. There may also be limited liabilities. Once addressed we can provide an to update your estimate. We DO NOT disassemble exercise equipment, disconnect water, electrical or gas lines,prep grandfather clocks for moving.(we may be able to assist apon request with limited liability with the exception of Gas connections.) Lawn mowers and other types of motorized equipment can be moved on our truck, but must be emptied of gas prior to our arrival. Certain types of equipment may require a specific truck to be moved and should be addressed prior, so please be sure to specify the type of equipment you need moved. Our crew will review all the details for your move with you on the day of your move.

  • Availability

    We have limited availability for Saturday moves. We do not schedule for Sunday moves If your requested move date is a weekend, please verify availability for weekend move prior to scheduling. Prior to requesting a move date, please be sure that we have all the correct information for your move, including pick up and delivery locations, any extra stops required, and packing requirements. If any corrections need to be made to the estimate, please let us know prior to scheduling.

  • Payment

    Payment is due at the end of the move, and you will pay directly to the driver. We accept cash and personal checks ONLY.

  • Weather

    Inclement weather may impact time required for the move,. We do the best to prevent tracking in dirt,snow,mud,water. We do have booties and are more than happy to put them on. Keep in mind the constant taking of booties on and off with furniture and boxes per trip can greatly extenuate the job time and cost. If you are worried about carpets and floors we always recommend having carpet guard and contractor paper/painters tape on hand. You can either lay it down prior or we can do it for you apon arrival. These are things we may have in stock apon request or can be purchased at Home Depot/Lowes/etc.

  • Truck Access

    Our Trucks are 12'6'’ Tall, 8’ wide, 30’ Long with an additional ramp length of 12’

    Please make sure that all branches overhanging the driveway or access point are appropriately trimmed to allow our trucks to back in. Any Trimming that needs to be done will be done on the

    clock and you will be charged for the time it takes to do so. Please inform us of any access issues involving driveway length and width and on road parking where required. We will have to trim any branches that will rub on the truck.

    If your driveway is steep or narrow, on a seasonal road or has tight turns, our ability to move you may be effected and a shuttle might be required.

  • Winter moves

    Please make sure that driveways,sidewalks,and all access points/entrances are completely cleared of snow and Ice. Failure to do so, can greatly impact the ability to complete the move and/or within the estimated time and cost.

Move day prep

Steps You can Take Ahead of Time to save Time and streamline the move

  1. Disassemble your furniture, and take note of how to reassemble it! .Consider your beds, computer desks, dresser mirrors, hutches, exercise equipment, cribs, etc.
  2. Secure your appliances. This means unhooking hoses for water lines and gas lines (which need to be capped), as well as doors on refrigerators and freezers.
  3. Stack all your boxes on the first floor of your building for easier loading. Labeling them will greatly help with unpacking.
  4. Move smaller objects out of the way, like plants, lamps, pictures, clothes, minor electrical equipment, computers, stereos, etc.
  5. For moves from offices or apartment complexes, try to reserve the closest parking spot you can for the move.
  6. When moving things into storage, be sure to have plenty of coverage for your furniture (blankets, sheets, pads, etc.).
  7. When packing pods and uhaul trucks, please have Pads, Nylon Rope, Bungees, Ratchet straps. More is always better, what we dont use you can return.
  8. Remove propane tanks and drip trays from grills and clean off outdoor patio items. These will be in the same truck with your indoor furniture.
